In the first quarter of 2019, companies of UCL Port, stevedoring division of UCL Holding, handled 9.9 million tonnes of cargo, up 6%, year-on-year. The growth was driven by increased transshipment of oil cargo.

In the reporting period, transshipment of dry cargo grew by 1.4% to 7.7 million tonnes. Transshipment of oil cargo increased by 26% to 2.2 million tonnes with the handling of additional volumes in Tuapse and Taganrog.

Transshipment of general cargo fell by 9% to 2.4 million tonnes, particularly due to reduced volumes of ferrous and non-ferrous metal handled at Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg. Total decrease in this segment was partially compensated by the increased transshipment of ferrous metal by Taganrog Sea Commercial Port (+19%).

During the first three months of the year, transshipment of dry bulk cargo demonstrated a positive dynamics (+0.4%) having retained the level of the similar period in 2018 — 2.8 million tonnes.

In the reporting period, the growth of performance indicators was achieved in the segment of containerized cargo* — by 15% versus Quarter I of 2018, to 2.5 million tonnes. Container Terminal Saint-Petersburg and Sea Port of Saint-Petersburg increased their results by 20%, year-on-year, having handled 202,300 TEUs and 7,500 TEUs accordingly.
